Memorial For Felix and Linda

This beautiful kitten, a resident at the Rainbow Bridge needs to be remembered as a beloved fur baby who's life was far too short. Adopted and adored by Linda, she misses him terribly.

Felix was found under one of the mobile school units by one of Florida Wild Veterinary Hospital's clients, who brought him to the clinic. He was only three weeks old when he was found, abandoned.

Linda wrote: "It started out as a "foster" baby for me but once I bottle fed him a couple of times I knew he was here to stay. We now think his mother abandoned him because she knew something was wrong. He was all alone out there."

This adorable baby had succumbed to F.I.P, sadly, and was not able to respond to treatment. Since he was so sick, Linda made the terribly difficult decision to release him from his suffering and with great love and tenderness, Felix was gently put to sleep, by his loving veterinarian, Dr. Erin Holder.

Rest in peace, sweet Felix. While your life was all too short, you made a huge imprint on the hearts of everyone who knew you.

Our hearts go out to Linda with much compassion and love.

Prayers Requested For Maxie and RUSTYSGOLDENSONG

RUSTYSGOLDENSONG. (Jessy) has shared her home with Maxie since she was 4 days old, after finding her buried alive by her owners. She was the only survivor of her litter.

A canine with a great will to live, and overcoming with many struggles during her young life, with Jessy's tender love and help, she grew into a magnificent dog.

Maxie is now 11 years old and was recently diagnosed with kidney disease. One of her kidneys is not functioning properly, but she is on medication now which hopefully will help her heal.

Jessy is terribly worried about her canine pal, and is requesting prayers for Maxie. Please light a candle for her as well. Jessy's only Christmas wish is that the treatment Maxie is getting will prolong her life, and that she will be able to share many happy and healthy years ahead.

Please leave a healing prayer for Maxie and Jessy by leaving a comment of support.

Memorial For Samantha and Her Family

It is with sadness that I write a memorial for my friend Susie, who recently lost her beloved cat, a part-Siamese named Samantha. Susie's grief deepand she misses her greatly/. Susie's other cats are grieving, especially Zen, who expresses his feelings openly. Fredricka, Susie's Blood Parrot fish also openly misses Samantha's company as Samantha would visit the tank and "talk" to her fish.

Susie wrote that Samantha was a sweet, calm and friendly kitty, and was quite protective of her. "She passed peacefully, but it was a shock as she was fine the day before."

Samantha only had one eye, but Susie did not care about that. She adopted her about ten years ago, sharing her loving home and heart with joy.
Having had two litters of kittens during her lifetime, Samantha is survived by several "babies". Kim and Snickers live with her daughter.

Please leave a prayerful comment of condolence for Susie, her husband, and her other pets at this sorrowful time.

Memorial for Dustbunny: For Lorrie and Family

This morning, my heart was saddened to learn that Dustbunny, Lorrie's beautifu beloved soulmate 16 year old cat now resides at the Rainbow Bridge.

After a long illness, Dustbunny passed on peacefully in her sleep, not awakening from her nap, curled up basking in the warmth of the stove after eating supper. As Lorrie writes, "Somewhere in her dreams she slipped away from her earthly prison and is now a beautiful sassy cat angel.

Dustbunny was an amazing kitty. Lorrie describes her intelligence as "startling for us humans." She playfully enjoyed flushing toilets, turning lights and ceiling fans on and off, turning on the TV using the remote, and able to open any cabinet or cupboard to hunt for a treat. She even was able to open the refrigerator door open. And even though she was spayed, her maternal instinct was so strong that when Lorrie rescued kittens, Dustbunny would come into milk and nurse and train the kittens.

A strong willed cat, Dustbunny was "sassy" and when she misbehaved, would frequently show her displeasure with her human parents when they tried to correct her. But just the sight of a spray bottle was sufficient for her to disappear in a flash.

Lorrie wrote, "For 16 years she was my sweet and loving companion and my online namesake. She was queen of our home and ruled it with an iron paw and tons of love. Good bye sweet angel. Watch for me someday up there and make sure you sass an angel once in a while"

Please join us in a prayer by leaving a comment for Lorrie and her family who are devastated by their loss. Dustbuny is once again restored to health and vigor as she waits for her human family at the Rainbow Bridge but will be sadly missed, forever.

Memorial For Maddie: A Beloved Angel Dog

My heart goes out to Joanne, who's wonderful canine companion, Maddie, crossed to the Rainbow Bridge this past Saturday. Joanne described him as a "wonderful Golden retriever with such an outgoing personality. The house seems empty without her." Grief is the price we pay for love, but not ever having that love to share is far more painful.

Only seven years old, which of course makes her loss so much harder for the family, but her sudden rapidly failing health was overwhelming and they were faced with that difficult decision, to give Maddie the final gift of love . . . to end her suffering. Maddie passed to the bridge peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.

Their other Golden misses Maddie terribly, but Joanne truly believes that Maddie said her final "goodbye" to her canine pal, Mikey on Friday when she kissed his face. Their cats also acknowleded her illness and passing. Joanne ended by saying, "What a hole in our household this loss has made. I know time heals but we miss her terribly.

Please send healing prayers to Joanne and the entire family by leaving a comment of prayerful well wishes.

Memorial For Danube and Lorrie

On November 13, beautiful 20 year-old Danube peacefully went to the Rainbow Bridge.

This is what Lorrie shared about Danube's passing.

"Today is gloomy and rainy both in nature and in my heart. This morning Danube told me it was time. He looked at me with those beautiful blue eyes and I could see in their depths, that it was time to let him go.

I will miss his tiny voice, his beautiful continence and his calm loving presence. My Snowshoe boy is now with the angels, healthy and strong and sitting in heaven's windows watching my world go by. goodbye old friend."

Rest sweetly dear Danube, knowing your are loved and missed, but will be reunited with Lorrie one day when it is time.

Grief is the price we pay for love, but never sharing that great love is even more painful.

Memorial For Reggie and Cheryl

It is with a heavy heart that I write this memorial post for Reggie, a precious black and white Japanese Chin. After a long illness, his presence has just graced the Rainbow Bridge this afternoon.

Even though  his loving fur-mom, Cheryl is inconsolable with grief,  we want her to know that Reggie is smiling radiantly down upon her, longing for her sadness to pass, and to remind her how loved he felt during his short stay on Earth. He will live in her heart forever.

Reggie is once again free of pain, and has been restored to health and happiness. He is joyously cavorting with his old and new four-legged pals, who eagerly wait to be reunited again with their “people” when their time arrives to join them there.

Please send special prayers for Cheryl to heal her heart and to remember only the wonderful times she shared with her beloved Reggie. May this joy fill her heart and melt the pain she is now feeling.

Visit Reggie’s very special website, and enjoy the many adorable photographs of him.

A Memorial For Taylor:5/1/99-7/4/08

It is with a heavy heart that I post this memorial for Taylor, a beautiful black and white kitty who became a Rainbow Bridge resident, yesterday. He was Andy's heart kitty. He touched her spirit and soul in a way that was different than any of her other fur companions. He wove his way into her heart with his loving ways, his headbutt hugs with which he said "goodnight " to her before bed-time each night, and sit close to her before he set off for his own bed. He would tuck his head into her side and sometimes even fall asleep next to her. He had a very profound connection with Andy, and she with him.

Found abandoned, when he was 4 weeks old, in a broken hole in a building in Andy's town, Taylor immediately became part of her fur-family. He was so tiny he could fit into a teacup. Andy took wonderful care of him as she became his adopted "mom", feeding, cleaning and protecting him from harm. He soon grew into the wonderful cat who showed his love by keeping Andy company while she worked at home on her computer.Highly intelligent, he would spent hours just hanging out with her, curious about anything going on in the house. He even learned to use a human toilet. Andy and Taylor would often compete for first bathroom rights, which always amused Andy.He always accompanied the family when they went on vacation.

Andy will miss Taylor deeply, especially at those times when she comes home from work. Taylor was always waiting for her return, greeting her as he spied her walking down the path to her house. Upon entering, Taylor would immediately flop on the floor, exposing his belly for that obligatory rub.

Please send healing wishes to Andy, who is bereft and grieving deeply. While Taylor is no longer suffering or in pain, once again restored to vibrant health, his absence has left a huge hole in her heart. Andy wrote that "Taylor was a fighter too . . . he survived asthma which almost claimed him a few times in the past. God just felt it was his time."

In Memory of Pogo: For Lorrie

My heart goes out to my dear friend Lorrie and her family at the loss of their beloved Guinea Pig, Pogo. Lorrie wrote:

"Life seems to fly by on fast and fleeting wings. Yet another of my fur kids as entered heaven to rest among those who have gone before.

We rescued Pogo from a family that just did not want him. He was a child's pet and the child did not want to be bothered with him or his care. Despite the neglect, Pogo was a sweet natured and loving little soul. He never feared people or the cats. they used to lay on top of his cage and visit with him.  As the years passed we had the joy of his presence in our lives. When Pogo became ill I finally realized that 7 yrs is a long time for a guinea Pig to live. He still ate ravenously but could not walk any longer and was loosing weight. His morning wheeping triad, to be fed first was now silent.

Yesterday, June 3rd, my daughter took him to our vet. Dr. Leigh sent him peacefully to the Rainbow Bridge. He will pal around with other Piggies  who made life a little lighter and brought smiles to our faces.

Bye little Pogo. Make sure you Wheep at the angels each morning for your treat. We will miss you little pig."

Sleep sweet little Pogo. You will be reunited with your human and pet family once again in the future. You are sadly missed, but your memory is embedded in their hearts.

A Memorial For Shelby: For Donna

Donna's friend, Lorrie emailed me with the sad news about her beautiful cat Shelby's recent residence at the Rainbow Bridge.

This is what Lorrie wrote. Please send prayers for Donna's healing and glow for Shelby new to the Bridge. Thank you.
Jo
I write this with a heavy heart. My dear friend and cyber sister Dnarose has lost her
precious Shelby. Shelby was a very special part of  Dnarose's life. She loved her family and was
treated as one of the kids. We all knew her a beautiful addition to their family.

Shelby loved life. She was alert and very smart. Sometimes too smart. She rattled cupboard door to awaken the family when it was time to eat. She, many times,
had her own little place at the table and sat quietly in her
chair as she ate her favorite foods.  She loved the outer part of pop-tarts and pistachios.

Being a cat of great dignity and understanding , she did not mind taking the occasional bath and sometimes would jump right in if she thought she
needed to be clean.  She also knew exactly where to lay herself to maximize her beauty.

She knew she was beautiful and she also knew how much she was loved.
As she aged she slowed down a bit and only recently became ill. As her health declined her human momma gave her all the care and vet attention that was available to help keep her healthy and happy.

On May 31st Shelby slipped away to join her friends at the Rainbow Bridge.
She filled her family with unconditional love and she will be so greatly missed. Please keep Shelby's family in prayer.

It is so hard when a small fur child leaves our lives.
There is a new and bright star in the heavens tonight.
It is Shelby watching over her family from heaven.
Sleep sweet dear little angel.

I AM EVERYWHERE

Listen can you hear me,
though I am gone away?
Watch and can you see me,
as you toil through your day?

Can you smell my presence,
or feel my tender touch,
the wonder of the life we shared,
the life you miss so much?

Please, hear the gentle tinkling,
of the wind chimes in the breeze,
of the soft wind a door's opening makes,
will put your heart at ease.

Watch the dancing flowers,
or autumn leaves skipping by,
they dance and skip like I did,
before I had to die.

The heady scent of catnip,
the fresh smell of summer sun,
the smell of warm soft fur,
remember our days of fun.

The caressing touch of butterflies,
the feel of blankets warm,
remember how we cuddled,
when ere there was a storm.

Although my body failed me,
my souls  forever there.
Just look and touch and hear and feel,
for I am everywhere.

In Memory of Flakey for Donna: You are Missed

It is with sadness that I write about Flakey, a beautiful white cat who found Donna 11 years ago, while she was at her vet's office with another cat getting vaccinated. While she did not adopt him immediately, (as she had recently lost a beloved soulmate cat, and was not sure she was ready for a newcomer), she soon opened her heart to him shortly after she heard his repeated calls , asking her to become another special kitty in her home.

While not a lap cat, he showed his love to her in his own special way. He slept at the head of her bed, and was a constant presence in her home. While he was an indoor cat, his purrsonality was semi-feral. He was glad to be welcomed into her home to become part of Donna's feline family.

Flakey became ill with Kidney failure, and Donna gave him the best of nursing care, but recently he went downhill fairly quickly and was sent to the Rainbow Bridge on 4/17 at the age of 12. The 11 years that he spent with Donna and the other cats were loving and protective ones. His best friend, Angel Cat Clifton, actually taught him to be a cat, as he had been caged for quite a long time at the hospital, waiting for a new human companion.

Donna told me the other day, that she and the other kitties miss his "Flakey" ways a lot, but they "know he is now playing at the bridge with Clifton, Dew, JJ and all the others that are waiting for me there."

Her message to Flakey is, "God Bless you Flakey, You are missed.   You won't be replaced.... unless another very needy kitten comes our way."

Sleep sweet Flakey as you curl up with your pal, Clifton. Play happily until that wonderful day when you and Donna can play together at that time when  you both will be reunited. . .  with all  beloved fur friends.

Memorial For Dusty: Several Years Have Passed...

Even though it has been several years since Dusty crossed over the Rainbow  Bridge, Donna still misses him dearly.

Donna wrote, "This is my Golden Retriever Dusty...he was loyal and true... as are all Goldens' and went to his reward at Rainbow Bridge a couple years ago."

Such a sweet expression on his face.. pure love and joy to be with Donna.

Donna's Dusty will always live in her heart. He will watch out over her, sending her all his love, eternally.

We all send prayers to Donna at this time.  Losing a beloved fur companion always leaves a empty place in our lives, but our hearts are always filled with the deep love that we have had the honor to have shared with them.

Prayers for Joe The Chihuahua and his Human Parents

Joe, a 17 year old Chihuahua crossed over the Rainbow Bridge quietly this morning, surrounded by those who loved him deeply.

He knew how deeply his passing would sadden his human parents, and wanted a prayer of healing to be said for them. They took wonderful care of him all his life.  One of his human friends wrote me, on his behalf, " I cannot speak their language so cannot explain to them I will never be far from them. I may not be with them in body, but I sure will be in spirit."

Joe was a long hair white Chihuahua with brown patches. He weighed  about 2 lbs. He was the runt of the litter which did not matter to his human parents, who took him into their loving home.

While there are no photographs of Joe, his beauty exists only in the memories of his human parents. The photo in this entry is similar to his appearance.

God Bless those who takes the time to say a small prayer for Joe's family.

A Loving Memorial For Laddie: Prayers Requested for Carol

Laddie.. September 21, 1997 - February 20, 2008

It is with both the deep sadness and love that I feel for my friend Carol, who's precious dog, Laddie now resides at the Rainbow Bridge. My heart weeps for her loss.

The words that she wrote from her heart touched me deeply and I felt sharing them here on this memorial for Laddie was a gift I could give from my heart.

"No one can be more devastated than I...my darling boy..to be without you following me from room to room, seeing your things everywhere...I opened the refrigerator, and there were your string beans, your apples, your chicken...everywhere...your "bear head" is on the chair at the staircase..it still has your saliva, and it will be there always...the bread sticks you loved so much....

Laddie will be buried at 4p.m. on my birthday, Monday. He was born on my daughter, Nancy's birthday. He entered my body through a direct hit to my heart, from the first day, when I saw him and left him at the breeder's because he was so big...and the next day drove five extra hours(because there was an accident on the Thruway) with my son-in-law, to lift him into my arms and take him home."

Please join me in sending Carol healing prayers.

Owner of dog set on fire wants justice: Please Help!

Reported by Blair Simmons

Updated: Jan 24, 2008 04:03 PM
When Antoine Draper sent his  two year old pit bull, MiMi, to live with his brother for a while, he said it was like parting with one of his kids.

"From a puppy I fed her with a bottle. From the time she was born," Draper said.

But just days before Christmas, he got a call that made him sick to his stomach.

"I was working, I got a phone call said somebody set my dog on fire. When I came down here my dog was on fire," Draper said.

Mimi was set on fire while she was giving birth to puppies. The dog was still burning when Draper got there and he said he knows who did it.

"I found out later on it was my brother's girlfriend who was mad and high. She sent her friend to get gasoline to kill my dog to hurt my brother. She thought it was my brother's dog. But it was actually my dog," Draper said.

In fact, the remains are still in the yard.

"It was sick! You gotta be real cruel. Messed up in the head...to set a dog on fire. Somebody who ain't did nothin' to you," Draper said.

But to make matters worse, nobody has been charged with the crime.

Draper filed a police report. He said he even brought witnesses down to the station with him. But a month later, his brother's ex-girlfriend still hasn't been arrested.

"There are people tellin' y'all she did it. Why y'all ain't did nothin' about it? Y'all hung Mike Vick for doing it. He just fought a dog! This is somebody who's out here, poured gasoline on a dog and watched it burn," Draper said.

Draper says justice won't bring MiMi back. But her killer should be punished.

What you can do to help:

Sign the petition and let your voice be heard.

Please forward the link to this entry and cross-post!! Signatures needed! Mimi the Pit Bull was set on fire while giving birth. She deserves justice!!!!

In Loving Memory of Indy: For Marie

July 4, 1993, Jan 9, 2008

Farewell-our beloved 21st Century Schizoid cat.

Written by: RIA P27

Maine Coon, Indy, Charlimaine's Independence Jefferson,
born on July 4,1993, came into our lives as a 8 week old kitten
in September.

For 14 and a half years, he lived life on HIS terms. With a temperament
as volatile as an M-80, he despised any handling, petting or cuddling,
except for pats on his big head, which he often begged for by
sitting up on his haunches. We respected his distaste and outright
dislike of handling of any kind, which was hard for me, a person
who loves hugging her furbabies at every chance.

Quirky with a "Jeckle and Hyde" personality, Indy loved dropping toys
in the toilet, and sniffing his catnip pillows so deeply we thought
he'd inhale them. Loved playing with his lattice balls and loved his
Fancy feast canned food.

Always healthy, and never needing a vet's attentions except for annual
checkups and dental cleanings, he never looked or acted his age
even after he entered his senior years.

He fell ill a week after New years, going off his food, laying in his cave
under the kitchen table, not eating, drinking, using his box or doing
his other "Indy" things such as meowing at the four walls,
hissing and squalling at his house mates, playing with his lattice balls.

He allowed me to stroke his back the morning of January 9 and shocked
me with how thin he had become. So, off to the vet we raced. My heart
shuddered when he did not battle me while putting him in the carrier.
Warlocke had slept beside him all night. . . another weird and scary thing.

X-rays and other tests revealed an enormous nasty malignant tumor
that hogged almost his entire insides! I gaped at the x-ray in disbelief
that something so huge snuck up on Indy so unnoticed. My mind
and soul screamed-how could such appear so quick and deadly?

Yet, it occurred as I hoped, for many times I  wished, when Indy's time
eventuality arrived, that it be quick and relatively painless,
as he hated any kind of handling, which included combing,
brushing and even petting of any part of his body but his head.

But I never imagined it would come so soon on the heels
of Phantom's passing. Nor did I ever think he'd not live to 18,19,
or even 20 years of-age . . .  such was his feisty spirit.

On that afternoon on January 9, 2008, with a despairing heart.
Yet with Indy's preferences and temperament in mind, we decided
to let him pass to the Bridge, rather than subject him to exploratory
surgery and other things, which probably would not have worked,
as the vet said the tumor was likely inoperable.

Any other option required the intense handling Indy so despised and
resisted with all he was, and it guaranteed nothing.

Run free, Independence Jefferson, our Indybrat, Braticus, Bratboy,
Psychokitty, to never feel fear or pain again. You will always be
our beloved 21st Century Schizoid cat . . .

Indy, our firecracker, born on July 4, so many years ago.
You lived life on your own terms, yet I never doubted you loved
your Momma. who will miss you more than I could ever have known.

Marie

Indy's Momma always

A Poem for Those Who Grieve

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die...

Phantom: In Loving Memory for Marie

Phantom: July 22, 1991 - August 17, 2007

Written by: RIA P27

16 years ago, as tiny kitten with huge ears, you entered
this world in the basement of our neighbor's home, born to a
little cat of Siamese ancestry. On that day, we decided to take
you  into our home, and waited for you to wean.

When the fates took my 1st Maine Coon, Demon, from me when
you turned two weeks old, I almost changed my mind about
adopting you.

Despite my shattered soul that black day in August of 1991,
I went over to play with you and your sisters, to ease a broken heart.
You gazed at me with baby blue eyes, that fateful  morning
Demon left this world, staring while your sisters scampered
around the room, as if trying to convey an important fact.

In those eyes I saw a flash of something – recognition, determination?
Perhaps both. I knew you belonged with us. We named  you Phantom,
for your  dark color. You earned the moniker F-4 Phantom Wild Weasel
when you scaled curtains and furniture to heights unknown
to other kittens, fearless and playful, and FAST! You and your
best buddy Khan, the big brown tabby Maine Coon kitten
you thought might eat you that 1st day home here,
turned into a two-kitten wrecking crew that exasperated yet amused us.

In the years that passed, your long lanky athletic body grew
into a big strapping muscular 18 pound cat who ruled the yard
and home with speed, strength and cunning that even the largest dog
in the neighborhood feared. I will always remember how big dogs
always looked to see if you patrolled outside before crossing
the perimeter of the property. In your sea green eyes, I always saw
a strong double spirit, indomitable and stubborn.

When Khan passed away, you mourned, and when little Kai
joined our home, you KNEW he was Khan reborn, come home
to you, to us.

You accepted him without protest, and you became good buddies.
He grew into a huge 22 pound big red Maine Coon, while you began
to shed weight as diseases crept into your strong body.

He misses you as we do.

Now, my heart shatters asunder once again, as you travel
into the beyond, and no kitten waits next door to catch
your soaring soul as you did Demon’s. In the end,
the diseases overwhelmed both life essences that kept you so stubborn
and strong.

Farewell -- my Pig Weasel who could outeat a sumo wrestler, my Talker,
with that strident Siamese voice that often sounded almost human,
my Whale Boy, who chased all dogs from HIS yard, to my Furchild,
who always needed hugs and cuddles when sick. Soar high and far,
like the Fighter Jets we named you for. Fly on, fly free.

Fly in my soul forever my F-4 Phantom Wild Weasel, a special soul
born 16 years ago in the basement next door. This Christmas season,
in your flights through the ethereal world, when our
thoughts turn to your precious memories . . .
may you find your way back home.

Love,

your Momma always
Marie

In Loving Memory of ChiChi: For Claudia

ChiChi
11/12/1989 - 12/31/2007

"She has been a member of the family since she was 6 weeks old.
She will be GREATLY missed."

When a beloved pet goes to the Rainbow Bridge, we grieve. A hole in our hearts opens which we feel will never be filled.

But that love that we have for that beloved little one remains as a constant in our heart and memories of the joy and happiness that we shared together fills that heart and eases the pain.

Our pets do not want us to mourn their loss endlessly. They watch over us to protect and comfort us and know that one day we will be reunited again.

Sleep sweet, ChiChi. Your presence in Claudia's life will continue to shine as a star in the Heavens.
