Journal of HOPE and Great love- for Fluffy!

Let me share a fantastic story of love and courage! My friend Laurentha adopted a handicapped kitten several months ago. She was named "Fluffy" and she has been developing  and growing into quite the "young lady" thanks to her purrsonal "slave" Laurentha.

Laurentha created a journal about Fluffy, which is a diary of Laurentha's experiences and progress with this amazing kitty. It is a fascinating read for all pet lovers, particularly those who have handicapped cats. It is an inspiration and a source of support for folks who have cats with special needs. My kudos go out to Laurentha for creating this journal!

Apaws to her and to the love and devotion that she showers on this wonderful cat.

Here is the link to the journal and a recent picture of Fluffy!

"Premarin Mares and Foals" Need Your Help!

Winter is fast approaching in Canada. The leaves are changing, there is a chill in the air, and it recently snowed in Alberta. Sadly, this signals the end of this year’s rescue opportunity for Premarin mares and foals, and the ranchers will be forced to bring the horses out of pasture.

Since it is extremely costly for the ranchers to feed these animals, nearly 200 horses will end up at auction, many of whom will be slaughtered. If you have room to house a horse, please consider adopting a Premarin mare or foal today. For more information on how you can help, please

A Tribute of Love For Rufus and Denise, her companion..eternally!

A Tribute To Rufus, For Denise

Beloved Rufus now resides at the Rainbow Bridge. He is missed so by his  wonderful companion, Denise, and is once again, happy and healthy, romping and playing with his new friends. He waits for his beloved companion to join him in her own time. He does not want her to be sad now.

I would like to share Denise's words, so beautifully written for the Candlelight Ceremony:

Born February 11,1994 Passed On: October 6,2005

My " Little Mad Man"-how I miss you so-you gave me 11 1/2 years of unparalleled joy and laughter-God called you home all too soon-They must have needed a sentry at "The Pearly Gates" PLEASE wait for me at " The Bridge"-along with Tommy, Munchen, Brini,Herschel,Bumper and all the other wonderful pets

The Rescuer's Final Reward- Thank You Laurentha

Unlike most days at the Rainbow Bridge, this day dawned cold and gray.
All the recent arrivals at the Bridge did not know what to think, as
they had never seen such a day.  But the animals who had been waiting
longer for their beloved people to accompany them across the Bridge knew
what was happening, and they began to gather at the pathway leading to
the Bridge.

Soon an elderly dog came into view, head hung low and tail dragging. He
approached slowly, and though he showed no sign of injury or illness, he
was in great emotional pain.  Unlike the animals gathered along the
pathway, he had not been restored to youth and vigor upon arriving at
the Bridge.  He felt out of place, and wanted only to cross over and
find happiness.

But as he approached the Bridge, his way was barred by an angel, who
apologized and explained that the tired and broken-spirited old dog
could not cross over.  Only those animals accompanied by their people
were allowed to cross the Bridge.  Having nobody, and with nowhere else
to turn, the dog trudged into the field in front of the Bridge.

There he found others like himself, elderly or infirm, sad and
discouraged.  Unlike the other animals waiting to cross the Bridge,
these animals were not running or playing.  They simply were lying in
the grass, staring forlornly at the pathway across the Rainbow Bridge.
The old dog took his place among them, watching the pathway and waiting
yet not knowing for what he was waiting.

One of the newer dogs at the Bridge asked a cat who had been there
longer to explain what was happening.  The cat replied, "Those poor
animals were abandoned, turned away, or left at rescue places, but never
found a home on earth.  They all passed on with only the love of a
rescuer to comfort them.  Because they had no people to love them, they
have nobody to escort them across the Rainbow Bridge."

The dog asked the cat, "So what will happen to those animals?"  Before
the cat could answer, the clouds began to part and the cold turned to
bright sunshine.  The cat replied, "Watch, and you will see."

In the distance was a single person, and as he approached the Bridge the
old, infirm and sad animals in the field were bathed in a golden light.
They were at once made young and healthy, and stood to see what their
fate would be.  The animals who had previously gathered at the pathway
bowed their heads as the person approached.  At each bowed head, the
person offered a scratch or hug.  One by one, the now youthful and
healthy animals from the field fell into line behind the person.
Together, they walked across the Rainbow Bridge to a future of happiness
and unquestioned love.

The dog asked the cat, "What just happened?"

The cat responded, "That was a rescuer.  The animals gathered along the
pathway bowing in respect were those who had found their forever homes
because of rescuers.  They will cross over when their people arrive at
the Bridge.  The arrival here of a rescuer is a great and solemn event,
and as a tribute they are permitted to perform one final act of rescue.
They are allowed to escort all those poor animals they couldn't place on
earth across the Rainbow Bridge."

The dog thought for a moment, then said, "I like rescuers."  The cat
smiled and replied, "So does heaven, my friend.  So does heaven."

Prayers Needed for Sweet Kitty Tara!

I am sending this request for prayers and glow for my sweet Tara; she has chronic upper respiratory problems, and has been treated for over a month this time around at home, to no avail.  She spent Saturday until this morning in hospital.  Dr. says she had an abscessed tooth that he extracted when he cleaned her teeth (at my request) and that the poison had impacted her kidneys, though not terribly.

She needs "major surgery" as he puts it, on her sinuses; but she cannot have it until her infection is cleared.  More antibiotics, of course.  What I wanted to post was that, and to ask that anyone who feels so inclined would pray and/or send healing positive thoughts her way?  Anyone who meets my Tara has to love her; she is the sweetest, and cutest little kitten-flower!  (Technically she is a middle-aged cat; but she'll always be a kitten to me!)

THANKS for anything you can do...

Muhjacat

And a little gift from Muhjacat about how Pussy Willows got their name....

Darling Tara passed gently over the Rainbow Bridge between October 17th and 18th during the night. Such a young cat, only seven and a half years old. We grieve with her mom.

Sleep sweetly little Tara, and play with your new friends at the Rainbow Bridge. You are healthy and out of pain now. While your mom misses you dreadfully, know that her tears are liquid love which nurtures her soul and spirit.

This is one of the most beautiful tributes I have seen for a dog who was impacted by Hurricane Katrina. I hope that you find it as moving as I did.

Tribute to Zazz For Sue (Zazzpurrs)

Late August 2003 I went to my classroom to find one of my students sitting on the floor outside my door. In his cap was a little gray/blue kitten not old enough to be away from his mommy.  Brian had seen movement in the road as he drove to school and stopped his car.   He found this one little kitten that had survived... there was a bag with 3 other dead kittens in it.

Since I had taught Brian when he was 6  & 7years old and had had him again in 9th, 10th and then in 11th grade... he knew I loved animals, especially cats.He just lifted him up to me and told me with tears that he hoped I could help it.Needless to say, the past 13 years that cat, named Zazzoom by my class of gifted students, has been a part of my life.

The first few weeks he was with me all the time, being fed and nurtured until he could deal with things on his own. That first day the vet and I guessed he was maybe 3 weeks old at the time.

He grew into a really large cat -- standing on his hind legs his head would easily touch the door knob.  He was a muscular 20 lbs at his top form. The last few years he was more like 15 lbs.

Zazz loved it when I got my first external modem ....he would come find it and lie down near it and purr (thus my screen name). The sound was just somehow pleasing to him.

Zazz didn't care much about being around people unless I was around. The folks at the vets office knew this well... and would post a sign and make a game of it when he had to stay with them any length of time. (I did my best to make sure that didn't happen often).

I was burglarized when he was about 4 years old; the burglar apparantly woke him up, for when I arrived home, there was one closet door closed -- in the bedroom-- and Zazz was behind it.   The other cats were in hiding, but could move about as the idiot had left all doors and cabinets wide open.  They came out when they heard my voice. I knew at once that Zazz had to have attacked him!  When police called me 4days later, you know I asked if the idiot had scratches on him. HE DID!!   Good boy Zazz!

My darling brother who served 2 tours in Vietnam said he never thought anything would scare him again until he realized that Zazz didn't like people unless I was around. tee hee,  I didn't have to worry about anything with my darling attack cat!!

In the last year I had noticed arthritis had set in... his jumps were taking more concentration and sometimes he chose to do in 2  what he used to do in one.

He is at the Bridge now with Sparkle and Sherlock and Shenandoah, all who took him into our house and taught him all the cat games. He is missed greatly by Esme and Rocky and his human, Sue.
