Name: Dudley (as in "Do Right" and as in the angel character played by Carey Grant in "The Bishop's Wife")
We just wanted to announce that Steve, who has an angel kitty at the Rainbow Bridge, named Hobbes, who has graced us with his presence on our journal, has announced his "formal" adoption of Dudley on the above date.
We are thrilled for Steve and wish him all the best with his new feline companion. From what I gather, in conversations with Steve, that it is highly possible that Hobbes chose Dudley for Steve. Dudley has displayed several behaviors that were part of Hobbes' great purrsonality. So we are pretty sure that this kitty was "found" for him.
ConCATulations Steve on your new fur kid. All the best to you and Dudley. We hope you will keep us posted about him from time to time!
The picture below was taken from a spot that was very special to Hobbes. We feel it fitting to include it so that Hobbes, who must be looking down at Steve and Dudley and purring his heart out.. will know his "spot" has now been warmed again with much love.

What a wonderful holiday gift for both of you!!! I send my love to you and Dudley and have a lot of fun together. Keep us posted on what you both are up to. I am sure he will bring you lots of joy and comfort this new year. I have 2 new additions to my life as well. The cutest pair of fur babies, they are strays but the least I can do is feed and talk to them for I already have 3 of my own and another that found her way in my life. What to do? Maybe I can find some nice homes for them. Oh I have a dog that the neighbors left behind also that warms my heart. Happy New Years!!

Thanks for your kind words and your dedication to creatures needing someone to love and care for them. I was so lucky to have found Dudley and feel good knowing I am helping a shelter cat have another chance at a happy life.
Many of you will relate to the anxiety involved with bringing another furball into your life after dealing with all the grief from the loss that brought you here. Living alone, I missed the companionship terribly, but didn't think I was ready to deal with the fear and anxiety yet. I thought that volunteering at the local shelter would be a good way to channel the love I had for my angel Hobbes into caring for other cats, but keeping some distance until (if ever) I was ready to accept someone new into my life.
After a month of weekly visits to the shelter, something special I saw in Dudley left me feeling as though I needed to take a chance and see how it went. The anxiety was pretty intense at first, but now I'm so glad I took that chance.
Isn't it amazing how sometimes the new animal brought in just seems to "know" and take on many of the characteristics of a loved one lost? I too, have experienced this with a dog I adopted from the pound many years ago, who seemed to take on so much of the behaviors and personality of the German Shepherd we had lost to cancer. Very uncanny. I don't think too much about the spirtual world, but sometimes things like this truly make one wonder.
