Prayer To ST. FRANCIS FOR OUR Sick and Injured Animals

Good St. Francis, you loved all of God's creatures.
To you they were your brothers and sisters.
Help us to follow your example
of treating every living thing with kindness.
St. Francis, Patron Saint of animals, watch over my pet
and keep my companion safe and healthy.
Amen.

St. Francis of Assisi Lover of all Creation
Prayer for Sick Animals:
Heavenly Father,
You created all things for your glory
and made us stewards of this creature
If it is your will, restore it to health andstrength.
Blessed are you, Lord God,
and holy is your name for ever and ever.
Amen

I love this prayer, I always say that our animals are God's creation and that we should watch over them with the help of St. Francis. I am glad that Our Beloved Angels put this in the journal for us. God bless you and our critters, thank you, Christina Lucero

I came over here as soon as I could after I heard about Barbaro.  I knew you would be affected as much as anyone after writing about him for months.  I never grieved over an animal's passing again as I did over Strippy, the old cow horse my grandfather gave to us and had killed not too many months after.  Some people had pet plugs as they called them the children could ride for years without fear of ever being injured, totally reliable, which Striippy was.  I had had a horse run away with me when I was 3, so at 4 I was so happy to get Strippy.  Many great horses claimed my affections afterwards but I never forgot Stippy.  I am writing a performance piece now for my son to act this summer in the Heritage Blue Grass festival he and his cousins organize every year.  This year the theme is rodeo, and my son has been gathering the saddles of the old time cowboys up there and displaying them.  There is a song that always touched me called "Empty Saddles."  I always think of these cowboys as the ghost riders in the sky, my dad, uncles and cousins among them.  May you find another great race horse who will inspire your love as Barbaro has.  You know what, when I was having my last son and was facing a caesarian at the last moment, I remembered a dream I had of a hay wagon taking me to the cemetary, and it turned out to be a big green pasture, built like a giant hole in the ground, and I was riding my dad's great cowhorse, Sorley in the green pasture.  That dream so comforted me. Sorley was in heaven, too.  Still the great spirit he was when he was here, so good for my dad.  My dad's relationship wth this horse was the best thing I ever saw in him.   Gerry
