It is with sadness that I write about Flakey, a beautiful white cat who found Donna 11 years ago, while she was at her vet's office with another cat getting vaccinated. While she did not adopt him immediately, (as she had recently lost a beloved soulmate cat, and was not sure she was ready for a newcomer), she soon opened her heart to him shortly after she heard his repeated calls , asking her to become another special kitty in her home.
While not a lap cat, he showed his love to her in his own special way. He slept at the head of her bed, and was a constant presence in her home. While he was an indoor cat, his purrsonality was semi-feral. He was glad to be welcomed into her home to become part of Donna's feline family.
Flakey became ill with Kidney failure, and Donna gave him the best of nursing care, but recently he went downhill fairly quickly and was sent to the Rainbow Bridge on 4/17 at the age of 12. The 11 years that he spent with Donna and the other cats were loving and protective ones. His best friend, Angel Cat Clifton, actually taught him to be a cat, as he had been caged for quite a long time at the hospital, waiting for a new human companion.
Donna told me the other day, that she and the other kitties miss his "Flakey" ways a lot, but they "know he is now playing at the bridge with Clifton, Dew, JJ and all the others that are waiting for me there."
Her message to Flakey is, "God Bless you Flakey, You are missed. You won't be replaced.... unless another very needy kitten comes our way."
Sleep sweet Flakey as you curl up with your pal, Clifton. Play happily until that wonderful day when you and Donna can play together at that time when you both will be reunited. . . with all beloved fur friends.
